Try this easy recipe for a nutritious snack using rolled oats and brown sugar. Kids love these wholesome treats, and can easily help to make them as well. These oatmeal squares are a lot like a Granola Bar with nutritious sesame seeds or sliced almonds--any finely chopped or sliced nuts will work. Be sure to use rolled oats, because they have more flavor and texture than minute oats. |
1 cup butter or margarine 2 tsp vanilla extract 2 – 4 cups rolled oats 1 cup brown sugar (Demerara preferred) |
2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt ½ cup sesame and/or sunflower seeds (or finely chopped/sliced nuts) |
